Ballet is the foundation of dance, focusing on technique, confidence, and grace.
A fun introduction to dance designed for our youngest dancers.
At KGSD, classes focus on creativity, coordination, listening skills, and confidence through imaginative movement and music.
Class Attire:
Leotard, tights, ballet slippers.
Skirt/tutu optional.
🩰 Pre Classical Ballet (Ages 7-10)
A gentle introduction to classical ballet designed to build a strong foundation.
At KGSD, dancers begin learning proper ballet technique, terminology, and structure while still keeping class fun, positive, and encouraging. This level focuses on basic barre work, coordination, posture, and confidence.
Class Attire:
Leotard, tights, ballet slippers.
Skirt optional.
🩰 Classical Ballet / Pre-Pointe (Ages 10–13)
A ballet class focused on technique, strength, and preparation for pointe work.
At KGSD, dancers build on classical ballet foundations through barre, center work, and across-the-floor combinations. Strength, alignment, and control are emphasized to safely prepare dancers for pointe if that is something they wish to do in the future.
Class Attire:
Leotard, tights, ballet slippers and/or pointe shoes (if approved).
Skirt optional.
🩰 Classical Ballet / Pointe (Ages 13+)
A ballet class focused on technique, strength, and artistry, including pointe work.
At KGSD, dancers continue to refine classical technique while developing strength, balance, and control en pointe. This level emphasizes discipline, precision, and performance quality.
Class Attire:
Leotard, tights, ballet slippers and pointe shoes (when approved & not required for this class).
Skirt optional.
✨ Lyrical / Contemporary (Ages 7+)
Lyrical and contemporary blend ballet and jazz to create expressive, emotional movement.
At KGSD, dancers learn to connect movement with music while building technique, control, and artistry in a supportive environment.
Class Attire:
Leotard or fitted top, tights, leggings or shorts, half-sole shoes or "foot-undies" shoes.
🖤 Jazz (Ages 7+)
Jazz is a high-energy, fun style that focuses on strength, flexibility, and performance.
At KGSD, dancers learn sharp movements, turns, jumps, and combinations while building confidence and stage presence in a positive, encouraging environment.
Class Attire:
Leotard or fitted top, tights, shorts or leggings, skin color jazz shoes.
🎭 Musical Theatre (Ages 5+)
Musical Theatre combines dance, acting, and performance.
At KGSD, dancers build confidence and stage presence while learning fun, expressive routines inspired by Broadway-style movement.
Class Attire:
Leotard or fitted top, shorts or leggings,
skin color jazz shoes or skin color character heels.
💃 Ballroom (Ages 10+)
Ballroom dance focuses on partner work, coordination, and elegant movement while building confidence and social skills.
At KGSD, dancers are introduced to a variety of ballroom styles in a fun and supportive environment. Classes emphasize posture, musicality, teamwork, and performance while helping dancers feel comfortable and confident dancing with others.
Class Attire:
Fitted dancewear (leotard or top with leggings/shorts). Skin color jazz shoes or ballroom shoes recommended.
Acro (Ages 5+)
Limited Spots Available per class!
Acro combines dance technique with flexibility, balance, strength, and tumbling skills in a fun and supportive environment.
At KGSD, dancers build coordination, control, and confidence while learning acrobatic skills safely with proper progressions. Acro helps dancers grow stronger, more flexible, and more confident both in and out of class.
*Please note that acro classes are priced separately from standard KGSD tuition, since they are specialty classes and do not participate in the annual recital.
Class Attire:
Leotard or fitted top, shorts or leggings. Hair pulled back. Bare feet preferred.
Intro to Dance (Ages 2-3)
The perfect class for young dancers who are ready to explore movement, music, and creativity in a fun and encouraging environment. Dancers will be introduced to basic dance technique, coordination, rhythm, and classroom skills while building confidence and a love for dance. This class is a wonderful first step into the world of dance and helps prepare students for future styles and classes at KGSD.
*Please note that intro to dance classes are priced separately from standard KGSD tuition, since they are specialty classes and do not participate in the annual recital.
Class Attire:
Attire will be gone over during first meeting. Something comfortable and easy for dancer to move in.

Dancers receive advanced training, performance opportunities, and learn commitment, teamwork, and discipline in a supportive and inspiring environment.
